1974 Ducati 750 Super Sport - Sold

The Ducati 750 SS “green frame” has become perhaps the most legendary and collectible motorcycle of all time. Given the limited number produced, shocking performance, and absolute beauty, it’s no wonder why.

This particular Supersport was imported to Canada by Keith Harte of Toronto with the intent to go racing. After preparation, which included the removal of all “street equipment” for safe keeping, the 750 SS was entrusted to Ted Redford. Redford was a highly experienced rider who campaigned Manx Nortons as well as Harte’s 1973 short-stroke Ducati 750 Imola racer at the Isle of Man. For the 1974 season, Redford rode both the Imola 750 and this very bike in a number of events throughout Canada.

Retried from racing shortly thereafter, the 750 SS was completed with its original, as delivered componentry and displayed at a museum for many years. More recently, the Supersport was purchased by a noted car and motorcycle collector who entrusted Mark Allin of Rare Drive Inc. to recommission the bike - work which included a full engine rebuild.

In its current ownership, the Ducati has benefitted from minor cosmetic work, in particular correcting the paint finish on the original fiberglass. The 750 SS remains largely original today, both in condition and in specification. The bike retains its original green paint on the frame in addition to many other unrestored finishes of rare pieces.

Fully documented and authenticated by expert Ian Fallon in a report, this numbers-matching 750 SS is considered a very pure and correct example.
